Saint Augustine Ampitheatre

Earth, Wind & Fire

Saturday, October 11 | 7pm

One of the most musically accomplished, critically acclaimed, and commercially popular funk bands of the ’70s, Earth Wind & Fire is coming to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, October 11, 2014 for one unforgettable evening.

Also known as EWF, the band was founded in Chicago by Maurice White in 1969.  The band has received 6 Grammy awards, 4 American Music Awards, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and sold more than 90 million albums worldwide.

Known for the dynamic sound of their horn section, their energetic and elaborate stage shows, and the interplay between the contrasting vocals of Philip Bailey's falsetto and Maurice White's tenor, it is no wonder EWF ranks as the seventh best selling American band of all time.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, the band had many hits, including "Shining Star", "That's the Way of the World", "Devotion", "Reasons", "Sing a Song", "Can't Hide Love", "Getaway", "Fantasy", "Love's Holiday", "September", "Boogie Wonderland", "After the Love Has Gone", and "Let's Groove". Two Earth, Wind & Fire classic songs have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame: "That’s the Way of the World" (2004) and "Shining Star" (2007).

In 2013, Legacy Recordings announced the release of “Now, Then & Forever,” the first new studio album from Earth, Wind & Fire since 2005’s Grammy-nominated Illuminations. “The Now, Then & Forever album is really about the legacy of Earth, Wind & Fire,” said the group’s co-founder Philip Bailey. “The spirit of the band has always been about uplifting the consciousness of humanity. There’s a hope that this Earth, Wind & Fire music will go on forever.”
